The 26th (2024) Annual Toronto Brain Bee

The annual Toronto Brain Bee will be held in-person, on March 21st, 2025 hosted by the Collaborative Program in Neuroscience at the University of Toronto.

2025 Toronto Brain Bee Schedule

12:15 p.m. Check-in begins (Pre-registered students only; student ID required, signed
permission form, and signed confidentiality form)
12:45 p.m. Welcome & Opening remarks
1:00 p.m. Round 1: All Contestants
1:45 p.m. Break – Light refreshments provided
2:20 p.m. Graduate Student Presentation (with Q&A)
2:30 p.m Graduate Student Presentation (with Q&A)
2:40 p.m. Graduate Student Presentation (with Q&A)
2:50 p.m. Top 50% contestants
3:00 p.m. Round 2: Top 50% of Contestants
3:40 p.m. Break 2
4:10 p.m. Top 10 contestants announced
4:20 p.m. Round 3: Top 10 Contestants
4:45 p.m. Awards Presentation and Closing Remarks


Notes:
1) The Permission Form, Confidentiality Form and Media Release Form should be signed by
a parent/guardian of the student participating in the Toronto Brain Bee Competition.
2) Participation certificates will be provided by email.
3) Award certificates will be provided to the top-ranking competitors.


The Toronto Brain Bee is a written knowledge-based competition for high school students grades 9-12. It tests the knowledge of the students in various fields of neuroscience. The original contest format was derived from the traditional Spelling Bee.

There is no cost to participate.

The 1st place winner will be given the opportunity to advance to the 2025 National Brain Bee Competition while will be held in two phases: Toronto Brain Bee winners are invited to compete in the first phase, virtually on Saturday, April 25, 2025 and the Final Showdown will be held in-person at the 2025 Canadian Association for Neurosciences annual meeting in Toronto from May 21-24, 2025


Registration*, study guides, and additional information are now available on the Toronto Brain Bee website. 

*Registration deadline is March 7th, 2025 @ 11:59 PM.


Why Compete?

1. Monetary prizes will be awarded to the top 3 competitors

2. The first place winner will be given the opportunity to represent Toronto in the 2024 National Brain Bee Competition

3. All top 20 competitors will receive a participation certificate

Day of the Competition

The competition will be held on March 21st, 2025

It is a written competition featuring three rounds of multiple choice, fill in the blanks, and true/false questions.

A schedule of the days full events will be provided closer to the date.
