We are happy to announce the first annual Brain Bee Competition in Niagara for students in high schools within the Niagara region!
This fun neuroscience competition for students, grades 9 – 12, will be hosted by Brock University. This event is sponsored by the Faculty of Math and Science, the Centre for Neuroscience, the Department of Biology and the Department of Psychology.
Students study brain and neuroscience topics including memory, sleep, intelligence, emotion, perception, stress, aging, brain disease, and more! Prizes for the top 3 participants will be announced soon! The winner will represent Niagara at the Canadian National Brain Bee (visit brainbee.ca).

The Brain Bee embraces the principle that science is for everyone. All students in grades 9-12, regardless of their neuroscience background or preparation, are encouraged to participate in the Brain Bee. The Brain Bee is not just a test; it is an opportunity for high school students to visit a local university, interact with university students, staff and faculty, and be exposed to neuroscience research. That said, please register for the Brain Bee only if you plan to attend the event. The Brain Bee runs on volunteer hours and donor funding, and no-shows come at a cost to the organizing university. If you happen to register but cannot attend, please email us niagara@brainbee.ca to let us know of your withdrawal from the competition. Thanks so much for your kind consideration.
Prizes
There will be prizes for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners (details will be posted closer to the event). The 1st place winner will also go onto represent our Niagara chapter at the Annual CIHR Canadian National Brain Bee competition. Additional exciting prizes are awarded at the Canadian National competition, and the winner of the Canadian National Brain Bee will represent Canada at the International Brain Bee competition.
