Study Resources:
Recommended study resources for the 2025 Canadian National Brain Bee are updated to reflect recent advances in neuroscience and to follow study resource updates used by the International Brain Bee. Similar to previous years, the tests will cover neuroscience knowledge, human neuroanatomy, and patient diagnosis. The following resources are the base from which the test questions will be drawn.
Please note that the resources listed here are for the NATIONAL competition. Study resources for your LOCAL brain bee may differ from the national – refer to your local brain bee webpages (see side menu) or reach out to your local brain bee organizers to confirm.
Study resources for the 2025 Canadian National Brain Bee include:
– Neuroscience Online
– Open Neuroscience Initiative
– Brain Facts 2018 (80 Mb)
– Functional Neuroanatomy (Note that there will NOT be any MRI labelling questions).
Many of the questions for the 2024 competition, including General knowledge, Patient Diagnosis, Neuroanatomy, and Neurohistology, will be drawn from the four study resources listed above. If we add additional recommended study resources, we will post a link here.
The general format of the tests will be outlined closer to the competition.
Spelling: Note that on any short-answer questions, we are not grading your spelling, however, if your answer is ambiguous due to a misspelling, it will be marked incorrect. We will not guess as to what you meant.
International Brain Bee Resources: The 2025 International Brain Bee (IBB) will be VIRTUAL. Study resources and other details will be published on their site when they are ready: https://thebrainbee.org/
Please note that no recording devices are allowed during the question and answer period of any part of the Local, National, and International Brain Bee events.
