Guelph Brain Bee
We are so happy to announce the return of the Guelph Brain Bee for students in high schools within Guelph and surrounding areas! This fun-filled competition is for students from grade 9 through 12 and will be hosted at the University of Guelph by several neuroscience-focused departments across the university, including the departments of Molecular and Cellular Biology, Psychology and Biomedical Sciences. Competing students, guardians and teachers are all welcome! This competition will allow participating students to demonstrate their knowledge of different aspects of neuroscience and gain a truly valuable experience that they can add to their resume — not to mention the possibility of winning cash prizes and a trip! Most importantly, we hope that the Brain Bee will spark student’s interest in neuroscience and mental health and help to cultivate the next generation of neuroscientists.

Study Materials
The following two study resources will be used for the 2024 Guelph Brain Bee competition.
1. https://www.austinlim.com/open-neuroscience-initiative (online resource)
2. Brain Facts 2018 (80 Mb PDF)
(If we add new study resources, we will list them here.)
*Note: the local Guelph Brain Bee competition will primarily focus on material presented in the Brain Facts 2018 (resource 2 listed above). The additional study materials will be important for subsequent preparation for the Canadian National Brain Bee and the International Brain Bee.
Tutorial Sessions
We are willing to arrange tutor sessions upon request. If we have a large number of requests, online sessions will be scheduled for interested participants. If you have questions regarding this, please reach out to guelph@brainbee.ca.
