Eighth Annual Competition: May 30th, McMaster University
On May 30 2015, high school students from across Canada will come to McMaster University to compete for the CIHR Canadian National Brain Bee championship. These are the top students in their region – champions who have already won their local brain bee competitions. They will meet to engage in challenging events, testing their knowledge of neuroscience and their skills at patient diagnosis and neuroanatomy.
Competitors will come from several cities across Canada, from coast to coast. All of the competitors will take home an experience of a lifetime. Our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners receive trophies and cash prizes ($1500 for first place; $1000 second place; $500 third place).
The 2015 champion will display a beautiful travelling trophy at their high school for one year, and will be given the opportunity to work as a summer intern in a neuroscience laboratory. The challenge is not over for the CIHR Canadian National Brain Bee champion, who also receives a trip for two people to travel to the International Brain Bee (IBB) to represent Canada at the competition.
The 2015 International Brain Bee will be held in Cairns, Australia, August 23-27, 2015, at the joint meeting of the Australasian Neuroscience Society (ANS), the International Society for Neurochemistry (ISN) and the Asian Pacific Society for Neurochemistry (APSN).
Good luck to everyone in their local competitions! If you are interested in competing in your local area, look for contact information under Local Brain Bees, organized by city name.
